Ivariants and Linearization of
Nonlinear Differential Equations

Abstract
The talk is aimed at discussing recent developments in the theory of
invariants based on the infinitesimal technique with emphasis on the use
of infinite Lie algebras. Newly found invariants are presented for
various families of non-linear ordinary differential equations of the
second order and for linear and non-linear equations of the third order.
The solution to the linearisation problem is given for the second order
and third order equations. An invariant formulation of Lie's group
classification of second order equations is discussed.
